About
In my practice, I work in English, French and Arabic with adults, adolescents, and couples experiencing a wide range of psychological difficulties such as depression, grief and loss, anxiety, trauma, self-esteem related difficulties, cross-cultural struggles and relational challenges. I also help individuals and couples dealing with fertility and perinatal related difficulties.
My main clinical approach is psychodynamic/psychoanalytic psychotherapy. I also incorporate techniques from others therapies such as cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), mindfulness, and the humanistic approach.
I have completed my doctoral degree in clinical psychology (Psy. D.) at the University of Quebec in Montreal (UQAM). My research focus was on understanding runaway behaviour in group-homes through in-depth interviews with adolescents with the aim of enhancing child protection services intervention. Since 2008, I have worked in different clinical settings such as outpatient clinics and psychiatric hospital units where I provided psychological assessments as well as individual and group therapy. I have also coached family medicine residents to enhance their therapeutic alliance with their patients and strengthen their knowledge of psychology.
I am a registered member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario and l’Ordre des Psychologues du Québec since 2014. I am also a member of the Ottawa Academy of Psychology (OAP) and the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society (CFAS).
